Broad and quality research

Along with patient care and training of health professionals, research constitutes one of the EOC's main missions. In recent years, the institution has experienced a continuous growth in clinical and translational research activity, with a significant increase in scientific output. Published articles have demonstrated the breadth and quality of research undertaken, which is based on the involvement of multidisciplinary teams, active participation in research consortia and international academic networks, and collaborations with research groups around the world.

Since 2020, the research activity has been carried out in collaboration with the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences of Università della Svizzera Italiana.

What is the point of doing research?

Research projects can make a relevant contribution to:

  • prevent diseases;
  • tailor therapies to the needs of each patient;
  • develop treatments, medical devices or diagnostic methods for less invasive and more effective treatments.

Clinical research areas

Clinical research is the study conducted on humans (healthy or sick) and takes place in the departments of care. The breadth of research conducted in EOC comes from the in-depth knowledge and expertise in different clinical specialties.

Research activity in the EOC affects almost all areas of healthcare provision, making sharing and the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams the linchpin of success for the research itself.
