The EOC Sexual Health Counselors comply with the Cantonal Implementation Act (1987) of the Federal Pregnancy Counseling Act (1981).

The goals of the Service are to promote sexual and reproductive health through information, sex education and counseling. The team consists of nine sexual health counselors with specific training in sexual and reproductive health, or in clinical sexology and sex education.

Collaborations with the territory

To provide comprehensive counseling, the Service collaborates closely with physicians in the gynecology departments of the Referring Hospitals and with other Services within the EOC and in the territory of Ticino. Aspects related to the prevention of unwanted pregnancies (counseling on contraception and emergency contraception-"morning-after pill") and sexually transmitted infections are an integral part of the work of the EOC Sexual Health Counselors.

Access to the service

Anyone can request counseling, regardless of age (including for children under 16), sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, ethnicity. The meeting can take place individually, as a couple, or in a small group.

It is recommended to call to request an appointment, which can usually be made with a few days' wait. We are also available for phone or e-mail consultations.
