Expertise and professionalism

Continuing education is considered by theSwiss Institute for Medical Education ISFM "an indispensable prerequisite for being able to practice medicine competently." In fact, within the Federal Law on Medical Professions (FMPA), continuing education is defined as "a professional duty."

Continuing education, with a view to improving the service provided to patients, has as its main objectives:

  • The maintenance and improvement of medical skills, including in relation to advances, discoveries and innovations in the medical field.
  • The promotion of research, teaching and in general the quality of care.
  • The enhancement of collaboration between physicians and professionals in health care.

Areas of training

In EOC, the Institutes, Regional Hospitals and Centers of Expertise offer courses, conferences and seminars in the various medical specialties, which are recognized in terms of credits by the Swiss Institute for Medical Education ISFM.

In addition to this, attention is also paid to enhancing skills in management, technical-disciplinary and relational areas. In this sense, the proposals are mainly aimed at internal staff from the medical, nursing, medical-technical, technical, hotel and administrative fields and EOC executives.
