Patient support
Social Services offers its services to inpatients and outpatients in the various departments of the hospital. The social worker collaborates with:
- The nursing staff, who report the patient's needs.
- The patient and his or her family since they are the main recipients of his or her intervention.
- The external social network since it is its facilities and services that need to be activated to address the patient's need.
The social worker listens to and supports the patient and his or her family, offers information and counseling, and also makes an assessment of the patient's social situation and resources, trying in every way to promote his or her autonomy and social integration. Finally, he or she plans, coordinates, and participates in the implementation of decisions made with the patient, family, caregivers, and outside services.
The social worker also deals with the administrative work related to his or her function and abides by the obligation of professional secrecy during the various stages of intervention.
