ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) surgery

• Pathologies ofthe nose: inflammatory, traumatic, tumor, dysmorphological pathologies.
• Ear diseases: sensorineural hearing loss, transmissive hearing loss, mixed hearing loss, tinnitus.
• Larynx pathologies: anatomical obstructions, paretic or paralytic states of local muscles, inflammatory or infectious diseases, swallowing disorders, phonation disorders, tumor pathologies.
• Thyroid pathologies: benign and cancerous pathologies.
• Salivary gland pathologies: pathologies due to inflammation, infection, trauma, and tumors.
• Tumors of the head and neck region.
• Peripheral vertigo: paroxysmal positional vertigo, vestibular neuritis, Meniere's disease, phobic vertigo, vertigo associated with migraine.
• Snoring and sleep apnea.

The purpose guiding every therapeutic act is to obtain the best outcome for healing or long-term control of the disease, with the greatest possible respect for the functional and morphological integrity of the organ involved.

Pathologies of the nose

• Diagnosis with the aid of technologies such as high-resolution videoendoscopy, olfactory testing, rhinomanometry, CT or Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
• Surgical treatments with the help of endoscopic vision and in selected cases with real-time radiological navigation tools. Corrections of the nasal septum or exo-structure of the nose (septoplasties, functional and/or cosmetic rhinoplasties), endoscopic surgery of the nose and sinuses for local inflammatory or tumor diseases, plastic surgery of the nasal turbinates.

Ear diseases

• Targeted and individualized diagnostic and therapeutic course, depending on the type of disease and in particular the characteristics and severity of hearing loss.
• Clinical and functional study of the ear performed with an otomicroscope with high-definition video camera and LED light, clinical audiometer and tympanoimpedance meter, silent booth complying with national regulations, platform for acoustic evoked potentials.
• Surgical treatments for inflammatory, degenerative, or more rarely cancerous disease, performed using surgical otomicroscope with HD technology, contact CO2 laser, intraoperative facial nerve neuromonitoring equipment.
• Correction of structural and functional lesions, including using artificial reconstruction and implant materials with high biocompatibility.
• Consultations for the acquisition of the most suitable hearing prosthesis for the patient's condition.

Pathologies of the larynx

• Diagnosis and treatment using minimally invasive scopic instruments, suitable for all ages.
• Multidisciplinary therapeutic approach to swallowing disorders, involving specialists and technicians such as neuroradiologist, internist, neurologist, neurophysiologist, and speech therapist.
• Outpatient diagnosis for voice disorders, using technologies such as stroboscopy to objectify the quality of vocal function and targeted reeducation paths (voice coaching).
  

Thyroid pathologies

• Multidisciplinary diagnostic and therapeutic approach in collaboration with Endocrinology, Radiology, and Nuclear Medicine Services.
• Thyroid gland surgery performed with the use of intraoperative monitoring systems of laryngeal nerve function in order to minimize the risks of its accidental injury.

Salivary gland diseases

• Instrumental diagnostics with the targeted use of ultrasound and nuclear magnetic resonance imaging.
• Cytological and histologicalcell and tissuediagnostics, the latter in collaboration with the Pathology Service, and cyloendoscopy.
• Removal by minimally invasive technique of obstructions or stones within the major salivary tract.
• Surgery for removal of a major salivary gland with intraoperative monitoring to reduce the potential risk of injury to facial nerve branches.
  

Treatment of tumors of the head and neck region

• Maximum commitment to early diagnosis of the disease and to providing the most targeted care possible, in close collaboration with all professionals involved in the process of patient care and rehabilitation.
• Each case is discussed in a collegial session by the Tumor Board, a comprehensive team of oncologists, radiation oncologists, experts in radiology of the head and neck districts, and specialists in nuclear medicine.
• Therapeutic strategies chosen on the basis of international guidelines and aimed at treating the tumor while trying to safeguard or restore at least part of basic functions such as breathing, swallowing, speech.
• Use of advanced technologies such as CO2 laser for minimally invasive removal of vocal cord tumors.

Treatment of peripheral vertigo

• Accurate history taking, vestibular clinical examination possibly accompanied by instrumental or radiological investigations (videonystagmography, instrumental Head Impulse Test, otocalorimeter, vestibular evoked potentials).
• Individualized therapeutic measures, which may include administration of medication, performance of positioning or postural exercises in an outpatient or home setting, or in dedicated physical therapy.
  

Treatment of snoring and sleep apnea

• Multidisciplinary diagnostics in collaboration with the Servizio di Medicina del Sonno, which coordinates the various professionals dealing with these issues.
• Surgical treatments of abnormalities that cause narrowing or altered air passage in the airway (removal of tonsils and adenoids in children, remodeling and plasticity of the soft palate and pharynx in adults).
• Medical and/or surgical treatment of chronic inflammatory states involving nasal obstruction (e.g., nasosinus polyposis).
