The institute

Now fully integrated into the EOC public health system, the Istituto Cardiocentro Ticino has been the leading cardiology and cardiac surgery facility in Italian-speaking Switzerland for more than 20 years.
In its commitment to ensure patients receive the best possible treatment, the Institute relies on an outpatient presence in all the main hospitals in the area and centralized coordination at its Lugano headquarters, where the care of surgical patients and the most complex cardiological cases is delegated.

In the day-to-day management of clinical operations, the reference model is that of the Heart team, which involves the coordinated activation of cardiological, anesthesiological and cardiac surgical expertise functional to the provision of personalized and effective diagnostic and therapeutic pathways.

Along with intense clinical activity, the Institute maintains a strong commitment to research and education, with direct involvement in the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences at USI and with important and ongoing medical and scientific relationships with renowned academic and research institutions in Switzerland and around the world.
