Postgraduate medical education

After graduating from medical school, post-degree medical education (or further training) enables one to become a specialist physician. EOC is the reference institution in Ticino for post-degree medical training, certified to provide specialized training courses. There are more than 400 physician assistants in training active in EOC.

Different training paths

TheSwiss Institute for Medical Education ISFM has identified 45 different federal specialist medical degrees, based on medical disciplines, that can be obtained by pursuing 37 specialized trainings. In addition to the 45 federal degrees, there are non-federally accredited professional advancements, such as in-depth, complementary and interdisciplinary trainings.

Pathways

TheEOC provides a number of pathways, differing in structure and duration depending on the specialty chosen, with the aim of providing the skills required in the relevant field to be able to take on independent work. The duration of post-degree training is 5 or 6 years.
