The hospital
Ospedale Regionale di Mendrisio, known as Ospedale Beata Vergine, is an outreach hospital with historical origins linked to an important bequest in the 19th century by Count Alfonso Maria Turconi.
In 1990 the main block was inaugurated. This building houses mostly the acute somatic inpatient wards and the technical plate, while almost all outpatient activity was transferred to the expansion built in 2022, called the South Wing. Also housed within the new building is the Low-Intensity Acute Care Units which, with its 30 beds, ensures the provision of sub-acute care.
