Health care offerings

In addition to the medical and surgical services, the Hospital is the referral (hub) facility for the Sopraceneri region for medicine specializing in the care of the frail elderly, with its forty beds in the two acute geriatric wards. The Hospital also hosts the Centro Cantonale di Fertilità, hypertension service, and, thanks to its location within the Tenero Sports Center, Centro Cantonale di Medicina dello Sport.

The hospital has a category A Emergency Room, that is, one capable of providing prompt 24-hour medical care to patients with compromised vital functions or at risk for serious and permanent impairment, and an intensive care unit recognized by the Società svizzera di medicina intensiva. Within the hospital we also find dedicated maternity specialties (obstetrics and neonatology) capable of safely accommodating patients from the Locarnese and Vallemaggia regions.

The physicians, nursing and techno-medical staff as well as the staff of the hotel, technical and administrative services share the same philosophy of serving the patient.
