General surgery
The management of pathologies that occur in emergencies (acute abdomen, trauma). These pathologies include, obstructions, perforations, bleeding, infections or tumors of any abdominal organ. If surgery is needed, it can be performed by open surgery (with an incision in the abdominal wall) or laparoscopic/robotic surgery (with small incisions giving access to a camera and operating instruments).
General surgery conditions can generally be managed without input from other disciplines, in contrast, generally, to specialty surgeries in the following subdivisions.
