Pediatric surgery and orthopedics

• Congenital malformations: conditions that develop in a child at conception or during pregnancy. The most common affecting these disciplines are malformations of the gastrointestinal, respiratory, urogenital, dermatological, and musculoskeletal systems, including the spine (spina bifida).
• All diseases requiring surgery: including the gastrointestinal, respiratory, urogenital, dermatological, musculoskeletal systems, including the spine (spina bifida).
• Injury sequelae: bone fractures, trauma, burns, complex wounds, presence of foreign bodies in the gastrointestinal respiratory or musculocutaneous systems.
• Sports injuries: injuries, trauma, fractures, dislocations, sprains or strains occurring during the practice of a sports activity (sports medicine).

Services include the entire spectrum of pediatric surgery and orthopedics, with preference for minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopy and thoracoscopy), robotic surgery, and outpatient surgery:

• Abdominal surgery: intervenes on diseases affecting abdominal organs such as liver, pancreas, stomach, colon, small intestine etc.
• Pediatric urology: surgical treatment of malformations of the urogenital system in children and adolescents.
• Plastic surgery.
• Thoracic surgery: correction of thoracic cage and lung malformations.
• Traumatology: treatment of bone fractures, abdominal trauma, thoracic trauma, head trauma, burns.
• Pediatric orthopedics: intervenes on musculoskeletal disorders of children including the spine.
• Hand surgery (In collaboration with adult hand surgery and Kinderspital Zurich).
• Neuro-surgery (In collaboration with University Children's Hospital Basel, UKBB): treatment of complex spine disorders, severe head trauma, etc.
• Neuro-orthopaedics (In collaboration with the University Hospital of Geneva, HUG and the University Children's Hospital of Basel, UKBB): treatment of musculoskeletal disorders causing injury to the central and peripheral nervous system.
• Complex diseases of the spine (in collaboration with the University Children's Hospital Basel, UKBB).
• Otolaryngology surgeries.
• Ophthalmic surgeries.
• Dental surgeries.
• Labio-palatoschisis (in collaboration with the University Hospital Center of Lausanne, CHUV and the University Hospital of Geneva, HUG): congenital malformation of the mouth.
