Master's Degree in Human Medicine

The Master of Medicine in Human Medicine (MMED) program at Università della Svizzera Italiana (USI) is distinguished by offering a lot of clinical practice in the hospital or with physicians who are active and working in the community.

CLINICAL PRACTICE

USI Students

During the first two years of the USI Master's program, students attend wards and/or outpatient care facilities of many medical specialties for two days a week, accompanied by a medical specialist in a preferred two-student relationship with a mentor whenever possible. This activity takes place mostly at the EOC.

Master's thesis

The Master's thesis completes the Master's program and is therefore a prerequisite for admission to the federal examination. It is an individual scientific paper, through which students demonstrate their ability to use methodological tools to analyze and investigate a topic related to clinical, biomedical, computational or human sciences.

Senior clinicians at the EOC, who are part of the USI academic staff (and some from other Swiss universities as well), offer students who want to get closer to a specific discipline, and who also want to discover some aspects of research, the opportunity to do the master's thesis in their teaching.
