Training

To better manage and coordinate activities in the area of training, the EOC has equipped itself with a Training Service (EOFORM). EOFORM serves as a methodological/specialist competence center for professional and continuing education of employees and ensures the effective and integrated management of "external personnel in training."

The mandate of EOC training

The EOC Training Service (EOFORM) has two main mandates: continuing education, aimed at employees, and basic training addressed to students and apprentices from the various cantonal and Swiss professional and university schools. The training and continuing education of employees is a strategic priority for EOC, with the aim of contributing to and ensuring the quality and safety of the care provided to patients and, in a more general perspective, of all company work performance.

EOFORM also manages all individual requests for external continuing education that employees, in agreement with their supervisors, request to attend in order to improve effectiveness and efficiency in their professional activities. EOFORM coordinates and supports the activities of professionals who train students and apprentices through coaching and counseling interventions. This is complemented by continuing education courses in the andragogical field and the creation of special practical tools for managing accompaniment.

Internal continuing education

We believe in the constant development of the skills of EOC employees. The opportunity to attend professional development or specialization courses is an indispensable tool for ensuring quality care and performance and enables employees to perform their function with an increasing degree of awareness and confidence.

The training needs of EOC employees are captured on the boards of service managers and through an annual survey procedure implemented by the EOFORM team. Continuing education is designed and coordinated by the EOFORM staff in close cooperation with our internal principals.

The EOFORM course catalog is very broad and differentiated: it presents courses concerning disciplinary theoretical/practical topics, interprofessional courses, training to improve skills, relational/communication and leadership.

Cadre training

In order to build, maintain and consolidate our Corporate Culture, a specific Continuing Education Catalog aimed at EOC Leaders has been prepared. This training aims to contribute to the development of those skills and competencies needed by EOC leaders to make a difference in their professional fields.

Thus, the training offering aims to strengthen "team spirit," open communication and feedback in order to improve relationships in work settings and with patients and their families.

Basic and postgraduate training

EOC is to all intents and purposes a major training company, and in this sense it assumes a role and social responsibility that are decisive for the community, particularly for young people in training and future health professionals.

Every day, dozens of EOC professionals, each in their own areas of expertise (nursing, medical, administrative, hospitality, technical, medical-technical, etc.) and within their daily professional lives, play the role of practice instructors, reference persons, internship masters, and mentors (post diploma PS, Anesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine).

To foster quality basic training of students and trainees, EOFORM has developed an Accompanying Model and appropriate training-andragogical tools.

In 2022 there were 13 vocational apprenticeship opportunities in EOC in different fields (secondary II): hotel, care, administrative, commercial, etc. Every year (January) the opportunity to apply for these vocational pathways is activated.

Different types of students are trained each year in the health care field. The number exceeds 800 with differentiated periods of stay depending on the training attended.

One aspect of particular note is the nursing area employees who are chosen for the specialty training of PS, Anesthesia, Intensive Care Medicine. Appropriate induction and introduction programs and training tracks have been created and prepared by EOFORM, the managers and mentors to facilitate their inclusion in the typical activities and skills of the specialty setting.

Internal continuing education

In the year 2022, the training days attended by EOC employees were (internal and external courses):

  • Total training days 13,479
  • In the year 2022, 4,500 employees participated in the EOFORM internal training catalog, while the training offerings counted at least 354 types of courses targeting different EOC professional families.
  • We responded positively to more than 4,000 requests for external training.
