A large slice of research in gynecology focuses on senology, for which clinical research is essential to continue to improve breast cancer care and make new treatments quickly available for all women who need them.
In particular, some important outstanding questions are sought to be answered:
- In surgery: can axillary surgery be avoided?
- In radiation therapy: can whole-breast irradiation be avoided?
- In medical oncology: can one stop treatment to try to have a child?
The Senology Center of the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland EOC (CSSI) also participates in several national and international research projects, such as:
- Treatment Guidelines in Young and Older Patients.
- Swiss registry of young and elderly patients.
Research also includes the development of new drugs, the study of the impact of diet and physical activity both during treatment and as prevention of relapse.
Other research areas in which there are currently active studies include:endometriosis, maternity, andurogynecology.
