Dermatopathology

Study and diagnosis of:

• Skin diseases: acne, rosacea, eczema, atopic and allergic dermatitis, mycosis, psoriasis.
• Autoimmune skin diseases: lupus, lichen, pemphigus.
• Hair diseases: alopecia, telogen effluvium, pediculosis, mycosis.
• Nail diseases: onychomycosis, onychodystrophies, ingrown nails.
• Melanin alteration diseases: vitiligo, melasma or chloasma, solar lentigo.
• Skin cancers: actinic and seborrheic keratoses, epitheliomas, melanomas.
• Vascular imperfections and changes: erythrosis, ruby and stellate angiomas, rosacea.
• Scars.
• Pathologies of the oral and genital mucosa.

• Processing of biopsies (samples) obtained as a result of endoscopic or radiological examinations or during surgical procedures/explorations (about 70,000 each year).
• Histochemical and immunohistochemical analysis.
• Extemporaneous examination of skin exeresis for Mohs surgery, an operative technique that allows complete excision of non-melanocytic skin tumors by precise microscopic control of the borders of the areas of skin affected by the pathology.
• Long-term archiving of diagnostic material in favor of potential inquiries/analysis even years after diagnosis.
