Neuropediatrics

Child and adolescent neurology (neuropediatrics) deals with chronic or transient diseases and dysfunctions of the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nervous system, muscle, and neurodevelopmental disorders. It cares for children of all age groups, from newborn to adolescent.

Diagnosis and treatment

We follow patients both on an outpatient and inpatient basis, offering interdisciplinary consultations where necessary in collaboration with other Pediatric Institute specialists from university centers beyond the Alps. We perform, if necessary, electroencephalogram (EEG), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and further investigations such as neuropsychological assessments, muscle biopsies, botulinum toxin injection.

We offer neuropsychological, psychotherapeutic, and speech therapy evaluations and intake. Evaluation of suspected dyslexia is offered in collaboration with the Educational Support Service (SSP) of Canton Ticino.
