Individualized therapies
Chinese medicine-a medical system recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) and developed in the East 2,500 years ago-prevents and treats disease like Western medicine, but from a different point of view. It assesses the symptom as the manifestation of a pre-existing imbalance. Such a symptom may originate from different causes, and in parallel individuals with the same imbalance may manifest different symptoms. For this reason, therapies are always individualized.
Chinese medicine makes use of a diagnostic and a therapeutic phase. Diagnosis requires a careful interview with the patient and a clinical examination based on observation of multiple elements, including tongue and wrist analysis. It is therefore clear that once the diagnostic picture is defined, each person will have individualized treatment. In the EOC Chinese Medicine Outpatient Clinics(San Giovanni, Italiano, Beata Vergine, La Carità) acupuncture sessions are offered, possibly combined with other therapeutic techniques.
Acupuncture is a complex medical science, which aims to promote the health and well-being of the patient, through the insertion of needles, at particular points of the body. In many diseases it acts not only on the symptom, but also on the deep root of the disorder. For Chinese medicine, man is a whole, not so much of cells and organs, but of energy flowing within channels called meridians. Disease is therefore interpreted as a blockage of the free flow of energy or the loss of balance between various functional systems. The disease is treated by acting on the activity of one or more of these systems through the action of needles. Inpatients can also supplement conventional therapies with acupuncture.
In general, Chinese medicine is treated on an outpatient basis and can be accessed by appointment. Treatments are performed by the following doctors and therapists:

The EOC physician and therapist are recognized by the health insurance companies (LaMal or complementary). Patients are encouraged to contact their health insurance company in advance to ascertain their insurance coverage.
