Inpatient stay in internal medicine departments

Receive and admit to the hospital facility the patient with specific diagnostic and treatment needs.

Multi-specialty services

The Internal Medicine Service provides appropriate diagnosis and treatment for inpatients with pathology related to the subspecialties under the purview of internal medicine. It also treats patients in need of multi-specialty services, i.e., for the diagnosis and treatment of pathologies attributable to different medical specialties.

Access to the service, available at all four EOC sites, is through:

  • urgent or emergency admission via emergency room, with immediate intake;
  • scheduled inpatient admission , with access times depending on the indications of the attending physician for elective admissions.

Medical examination is provided daily by the attending physician figure, biweekly by the vice-primary or chief resident, weekly by the chief physician (daily to patients with private insurance).

Referral delivery times:

  • on discharge, the patient receives a brief report; the full report is sent to the attending physician within two weeks from the day of discharge;
  • emergency room patients are given a report for the attending physician at the end of their visit.
