Luciano Wannesson De Nicola

Born in Resistencia, Argentina, in 1972. Married to Maria Gabriela Mansur and has two children


Performed his medical studies at the Universidad Nacional de Nordeste, Corrientes, Argentina from 1990 bis 1996.
He specialised in Internal Medicine at Hospital Privado de Comunidad in Mar del plata, Argentina from 1997 to 2000, to continue with the specialty in haematology at Fundaleu, Buenos Aires, Argentina from 2000 to 2002 with prof. Santiago pavlovsky.
He arrived in Switzerland in 2002 to undergo training in Medical Oncology at the oncology Institute of Southern Switzerland (IOSI) with Prof. F. Cavalli and support from the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO Fellowship 2002-2003) and the European School of Oncology (ESO fellowship 2003-2004).
He completed his training in Haemato-oncology with a fellowship at the University of Toronto, Canada in "Stem Cell Transplantation and Cell Therapy", performed at the Princess Margaret Hospital under the auspice of Prof. Armand Keating (2004-2006).
He is the author of several publications in the fields of lymphoma and haematopoietic stem cell transplantation, and is peer-reviewer for major scientific journals.

Professional career

Once Attending Physician of the Inpatient Department, than senior registrar of the Outpatient Clinic at Ospedale San Giovanni, he is currently in charge of the Outpatient Clinic at Ospedale San Giovanni in Bellinzona; Medical Director of the Autologous Stem Cell Transplant Program of IOSI and consultant for Acute Leukaemias, Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation and Lung Cancer.
